Wiltec is a specialist in Industrial & Spray Technology, Safety & Workwear, and Office & Facility Services. With a strong focus on creating smarter, safer, and more sustainable working environments, Wiltec helps organisations move forward. In a dynamic industry where processes and technologies are constantly evolving, Wiltec requires flexible learning solutions.
Together with Jos Maassen, Learning & Organisational Development Lead, we discuss how Wiltec achieved 100% compliance and the role customised e-learning played in this success.
As part of a new ISO certification in the field of security awareness, Wiltec faced a major challenge. Employees needed to become more aware of risks related to digital security and information management within the organisation. This included practical examples such as locking your screen and handling suspicious emails.
Together with SkillsTown, Wiltec developed a customised e-learning programme tailored to every target group within the organisation. Thanks to an adaptive learning format, everyone started with an entry-level assessment. Based on the results, each employee received exactly the modules relevant to their knowledge level.
For employees working on the shop floor, such as in the warehouse, physical meetings were organised instead of online learning. This hybrid learning concept made the training not only accessible but also effective for every group.
The e-learning included recognisable case studies, clear language, strong visuals, short videos, and practical examples from Wiltec’s own organisation.
Jos, who is responsible for L&D at Wiltec, worked closely with SkillsTown in a co-creative process: 70% of the content was provided by SkillsTown, while the remaining 30% consisted of Wiltec-specific custom content. Together with a pilot group, the training was thoroughly tested and optimised before launch.
What made this approach especially successful was the internal security awareness campaign. Over a two-month period, the training was promoted through posters, internal communications, and awareness activities.
April was declared the “Security Awareness Month,” and on 1 April, the launch date, employees were challenged with 10 triggers and recognisable scenarios. For example: “You find a USB stick labelled with your director’s name. What do you do?”
Marketing played a major role in the campaign. Posters were developed, successes were shared, and trigger cards were distributed throughout the company buildings to humorously point out risks, such as unattended screens.
An internal rule even emerged: leaving your screen unlocked means paying for sausage rolls.
Employees found the training surprisingly enjoyable and genuinely discussed it with each other. That is exactly what you want to achieve with awareness.
For Wiltec, this project is more than a mandatory training programme. It is a building block in a broader vision of smart, safe, and future-focused work.
The collaboration with SkillsTown demonstrates that customised learning, combined with adaptive learning and a strong campaign, leads not only to compliance but also to engagement, pride, and sustainable results.
By investing in recognisable and smart learning solutions, we not only remain compliant as an organisation, but also agile and engaged.
