Univé offers company emergency response training for all employees

Univé pays a lot of attention to safety on the shop floor and therefore enthusiastically deploys this training within their organization. Jacqueline van der Hoek, Training Coordinator at Univé, together with our own Content Manager, Karin Bremer, is happy to share how they designed and deployed this customized training.

Safety for all employees

It is important that everyone knows what they can do in the event of an emergency on the work floor. Within Univé, safety is therefore an important topic. Jacqueline explains, "Our mission is to contribute to the safety, health and well-being of each other. We have a large group of FAFS officers within Univé. Through news items we regularly pay attention to this subject. The e-learning module of SkillsTown is a nice next step to make everyone in the organization familiar with safety and the FAFS teams. This will give safety a broader support base."

After all, there are things you want every employee to know, especially when it comes to safety. Karin shares, "We created the e-learning module 'Emergency Response for All Employees' with the goal that, as an employee, you have a more secure feeling in case something happens on the shop floor. It is incredibly important to know where to find the nearest AED. Or that you know, for example, what to do if your colleague accidentally spills hot water on his hand.

Custom

This of course involves a lot of customization, because: where is the first aid kit or AED located in your office? What are the escape routes? And where is the emergency exit or assembly area? "The customization options were very important to us," says Jacqueline. "After all, at our locations in Assen and Zwolle, we have several assembly areas and AEDs that it is useful for employees to know where they are located, hung or can be retrieved. It is also important that employees know who to report to or who to call in case of an emergency. That can be to the front desk, for example, or our general emergency number through Ms-Teams. That's why it's nice that there was a lot of room for our own input within the training. We could give suggestions and we were allowed to add topics that weren't already in there. I always feel the freedom to ask for anything."

Tip from Jacqueline: "Make sure all your employees are informed about your organization's safety processes. Such as the existence of a FAFS team and where colleagues can go if there is an emergency. This is one of the most important things you, as a company, need to impart to all your employees. That knowledge ensures safety for yourself and for your colleagues."

A successful collaboration

"Our testing shows that the e-learning works incredibly well," Karin proudly shares. "This is partly thanks to the many practical assignments, interactive elements and quizzes. For example, what do you do when you see your colleague pull away white? The e-learning is also easy to follow in short blocks of 10 minutes a day, which makes it very prevalent."

Jacqueline agrees: "All in all, it is a well-designed training. I'm very happy with the final product." The collaboration between SkillsTown and Unive doesn't stop there: "Creating training together is constantly a part of our conversations. If another important topic comes up, I immediately think of SkillsTown to make something of it together."
