We are pleased to see so many LMS and content providers upgrading to LTI 1.3. We too strive to always provide secure, efficient and innovative tools. Therefore, we are happy to inform you about an important upgrade regarding our integration standards.
Ensuring the security of your data is a priority for us. Therefore, we are following 1Edtech, publisher of the LTI standard, in their recommendation to use LTI 1.3 as the secure standard within our online learning platform. This means that in line with upgrade of our online learning platform Inspire, we will now exclusively support the Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) 1.3 standard for all updates. This transition means that support for previous versions, including LTI 1.1 and 1.2, will no longer be supported.
The benefits of this LTI integration
- Enhanced security: LTI 1.3 meets the necessary security requirements, significantly improving the security of data exchanges between tools and platforms.
- Better performance: The update to LTI 1.3 optimizes efficiency, resulting in faster response times and a smoother user experience.
- Future-proof: LTI 1.3 is designed to accommodate future updates and features, minimizing disruption to existing integrations and keeping our platform at the forefront of educational technology.
- More functionalities: With supporting functionalities, such as Deep Linking and Names and Role Provisioning Services, LTI 1.3 provides a more personalized and manageable educational experience.
- Improved Monitoring: LTI 1.3 provides smoother collaboration and more accurate monitoring of progress across learning platforms and tools. With features such as LTI Advantage, tracking progress and reporting results is easier.
Embracing LTI 1.3 is an important step in our shared goal toward creating a safe and efficient learning environment. We are aware of the impact this switch may have on users of LTI 1.1 and 1.2. Should this be the case for your organization, we can look together at the right approach to start using LTI 1.3 by default.
