Increase employee job satisfaction

As a company or organization, it is essential to invest in employees. And we are not talking about financial investments, but about sustainable employability and vitality in the workplace.Because the better the development, engagement and health of employees, the more job satisfaction, the higher the labor productivity and the lower the absenteeism.
Vitality and health are determined by four interrelated factors (source: Rever.co.uk):
- Body (the physical health)
- Brain (the mental health)
- Behaviour (healthy behavior)
- Building (a healthy work environment)
Companies and organizations that ensure their employees score positively on these four factors are well on their way to creating more job satisfaction. But how do you score positively on these factors? In this article we will tell you per factor, how you can score well on these as an organization.
Body: physical health
Enough exercise provides more energy and less absenteeism in the workplace. So it's important to be fit and stay fit. But how do you do that? Here, having (or creating) good stamina and a healthy weight is important. Without adequate exercise and sports, it becomes difficult to achieve those goals.
In addition to adequate exercise, healthy eating is also very important to boost physical fitness. People today are increasingly conscious of the food they eat. This is a good thing. We should not only eat healthy, but also eat regularly, balanced, safe and varied.
In our online training courses on being fit and staying fit provide practical tools to get started with your physical health. Employees can work on their health individually or together.

Brain: mental health
To create mental peace, first, it is important that employees know how to best manage their schedules. Being able to plan well creates better balance and less stress. In doing so, the focus should be on good time management: having effective time management. Poor time management manifests itself in lack of time, procrastination, disorder and unmet goals. In turn, good time management manifests itself in achieving results, more peace of mind and more time.
Another thing that helps rest the brain is adequate sleep. Can you say you ever get enough sleep? Probably not. We sleep on average 1/3 of our lives and we need it. Without a good night's sleep, you get tired, your responsiveness decreases and you become drowsy. Not exactly things that improve vitality in the workplace.
In our online training courses on time management and sleep patterns, employees learn how to manage their time efficiently and why sleep is so important. Encourage employees to get started with this type of training so that they get to work each day rested and organized.
Behaviour: healthy behavior
Work can provide a lot of satisfaction because it feels good to perform. But at the same time, a high workload, uncertainty about the future or work that doesn't fit your qualities can also cause a lot of stress. There is a simple way to reduce stress and increase performance, namely by focusing on mindfulness. With our online modules, employees get to work with tests, exercises and assignments so that they develop powerful mindfulness in no time.
Another stressor can be a poor work-life balance. For many people it is difficult to find that balance, but fortunately there are plenty of tips and tricks to be able to keep everything in balance. If that doesn't work, the chances of getting burnout are high. The average age at which we get one keeps falling and is now at 33-45. The only person in control of preventing burnout is yourself.
In our online training courses on work-life balance, employees learn to combine their work with their private life in a pleasant way. They learn to set priorities and let go of things. In addition, the online modules on burnout offer a good perspective on preventing burnout and recognizing the symptoms. This contributes to more job satisfaction!
Building: a healthy work environment
Physical over- and underloading can cause a lot of downtime. Lifting too heavily or sitting for too long: it occurs in many work environments, but is anything but healthy and detrimental to job satisfaction. It would be good to be more aware of this in the workplace. For example, do some daily office exercises and pay attention to correct sitting posture. In our online learning environment are different modules with office exercises available. This way, employees can vary their posture for a while every day, which promotes productivity.
Something that has less to do with vitality, but is at least as important to job satisfaction, is the atmosphere that prevails in a workplace. One in six employees is bullied, discriminated against or intimidated. Aggression and violence cause more stress, extra absenteeism, less job satisfaction and an increased risk of burnout. It is therefore important as a company to do everything possible to prevent bullying at work. In our online module on bullying in the workplace we explain how to recognize bullying behavior and how to prevent this type of behavior within your organization.
