As an SME, take advantage of the SLIM scheme

Blog

Every SME employer understands the need for learning and development, unfortunately, however, it does not often come to a structural approach. For example, because training and development involves extra costs, because there is a lack of time or simply because companies do not know where to start. The SLIM scheme should change this. Because also this year, SME entrepreneurs can apply for a subsidy to purchase and implement their own (online) business school for all their employees.

Who is the scheme for?

With the SLIM scheme, the government wants to encourage small and medium-sized companies to engage in lifelong learning. Some €48 million per year will be allocated to this subsidy scheme. Entrepreneurs within any sector can apply for the subsidy. In the agriculture, hospitality and recreation sectors, in addition to SMEs, larger companies may also participate.

Good to know: for employers with fewer than 50 employees, the reimbursement rate is 92%; for employers with 50 - 250 employees, it is 69%. A maximum subsidy amount of €24,999 applies. For partnerships of multiple organizations (such as industry associations and O&O funds), the subsidy can reach €500,000.

What projects are covered by the grant?

The grant can be used for a learning work environment. Think about establishing a company school and career advice for employees. This can already be done using an online learning platform where employees can improve their skills and thus actively engage in lifelong learning.

Use

The SLIM grant can be applied for in March and September each year. If you want to use an online business school for employees within this grant, SkillsTown will help fill out the application. In case of overcrowding, lots will be drawn.
