SkillsTown and OGJG Foundation launch online academy for seniors

According to us, no one ever stops learning! And that's why starting November 2, seniors can visit a new online academy especially for them. Together with Stichting Oud Gedaan Jong Geleerd (OGJG), we are launching this online environment under the name: OASE. With this initiative we give seniors the opportunity to educate themselves and improve their skills.
An OASE of knowledge
OASE stands for Online Academy Seniors Education and comes from a collaboration between online training provider SkillsTown and OGJG. The online learning environment combines lectures by students from OGJG with existing online courses from SkillsTown.
These include topics such as the influence of the media and the spread of fake news. Seniors are also taken into the wonderful world of the Rijksmuseum and users can improve their personal coaching skills.
"By bringing students and seniors together, we create a win-win situation for both parties."
The offerings are renewed monthly and participants receive an update when the new learning modules are online. Such a learning module can consist of online lectures or short courses, as well as a guided tour, audio clips and live lectures.
Collaboration between OGJG and SkillsTown
Old Learned Young Done Foundation organizes interactive lectures given by students, connecting generations and sharing knowledge. OGJG's lectures are normally given at special locations such as museums and concert halls. The partnership with SkillsTown allows these physical lectures to be converted to online lectures. "By bringing students and seniors together, we create a win-win situation for both parties. Especially if we can make this available online through SkillsTown's user-friendly platform," said Ilse Nieuwland, co-founder of OGJG.
"Enny van Arkel and Ilse Nieuwland are two enormously enthusiastic and motivated women who are committed to connecting young and old. I am therefore enormously pleased that as an online training provider we can contribute to this great initiative," said Hans Schuurmans, CEO SkillsTown
Launch
OASE will be officially launched on Nov. 2, 2020. Participants can apply from then on at www.oasevankennis.nl.
About OGJG
For seniors who want to follow more cognitively challenging activities, the Oud geleerd Jong Gedaan Foundation has been organizing interactive lectures given by students since 2014, connecting generations and sharing knowledge. According to Enny van Arkel and Ilse Nieuwland, founders of OGJG, positive pillars for a meaningful life should not suddenly disappear when one reaches an advanced age according to society.
OGJG connects generations through knowledge transfer, updating and deepening and gives substance to social themes such as "lifelong learning" and "preventing loneliness. In doing so, OGJG contributes in the short and long term to the (cognitive) well-being of both older and younger people.
