This will keep you motivated to develop yourself

If you are reading this then you want to get started on your own development. Good job! But you'd like to continue working on your development, right? That way you can gain new insights throughout your life and apply them in different work and private situations. But how do you ensure that your learning motivation is maintained in the long term? In this article we will give you some tools to do so.
Follow your passion
If you start delving into something that your interests don't align with at all, of course your learning motivation goes down immediately. Therefore, create a learning plan that reflects your passion. Of course, there will always be necessary parts of your learning path that you do not like as much, but if you see the ultimate goal in front of you, you will get through it more easily. Think for yourself what this goal is and keep reminding yourself of it. For example, hang post-it notes on your desktop or set a desktop background that helps remind you of your passion and why you want to keep developing yourself. By consciously or unconsciously looking at this daily, you will get a lot of learning motivation from this.
Share your goals
If all goes well, you now have an idea of what trainings you want to take. To stick to following these workouts, make a schedule with your learning goals. Make sure you don't make these goals too big and that they are achievable in the short term. Without these goals you have no prospects and because of this you will find that your motivation weakens.
When you have established your schedule and goals for yourself, share them with those around you. Learning is something you do alone. But sharing it with your manager, your partner or best friend, for example, can greatly increase your learning motivation. This way you have someone to whom you can be accountable and who can encourage you when needed.
Make arrangements
When you keep appointments with yourself, you gain confidence in yourself. This is important in a learning journey. So when you agree to work on yourself weekly, do so. This sounds easier said than done, especially if you have a hectic work environment. But it is important to set aside a place for yourself in such a busy work week. After all, your development is important enough to put other things aside for a while. Don't do this on Friday afternoons when you know your head is already in the weekend, but think about what time works best for you.
Failing to keep an agreement with another person is harmful to the relationship you have with that person. If you fail to keep an agreement with yourself, it is harmful to the relationship you have with yourself.
Be kind to yourself
You do have to remember that everything can't always go perfectly. Do you find it hard to start on some days and feel your learning motivation dropping? Then don't blame yourself. This will only make things worse and, by the way, this is also exhausting. Acknowledge that you are struggling and remind yourself that you are working hard to improve yourself. Therefore, adjust your appointment so that it does work for you.
Another way you can be kind to yourself is by celebrating small successes. Did you complete a course or feel proud of your accomplishments that day? Treat yourself to your favorite snack, take a walk past the ice cream shop or buy yourself a bunch of flowers. Celebrating your successes will keep you in that positive mood to keep going!
