Free trainings for all of the Netherlands through library

From now on, all residents of the Netherlands can get straight to work with online training courses that will help them strengthen their soft skills and digital skills. National Library KB and online training provider SkillsTown have entered into a partnership in which they are offering 28 training courses to all of the Netherlands.

Many people are currently having a hard time because of the corona crisis. With this initiative, the KB and SkillsTown want to support all Dutch people in this difficult period. With the help of the online courses, Dutch people can improve their skills in an accessible way.

Personal and professional skills

The package of 28 training courses focuses on both personal and professional skills. Dutch can take training courses on time management, communication, productivity, digital skills and languages. Further offerings include digital photography courses, yoga and mindfulness, sports and exercise, healthy eating, a short course on happiness and more. These inspiring courses are part of the offerings of online training provider SkillsTown.

"Now that people can't come to the Library to practice online programs or join a course, we still want to offer them the opportunity to continue working on their skills."

Crucial importance

The KB, which coordinates the network of public library facilities, and SkillsTown launched the collaboration to contribute to the personal and professional development of all Dutch people. "Now that people cannot go to the Library to practice with online programs or join a course, we still want to offer them the opportunity to continue working on their skills. Precisely because digital skills are crucial right now," said Maaike Toonen, program manager at the KB.

Taking advantage of the offer

Any Dutch citizen can request free access to the 28 online courses, and can take them through the end of this year. You can sign up through the KB website. The offer applies to everyone, including those who are not members of the Library.
