A look at the corporate MBE program

The corporate MBE from SkillsTown is like no other management course. It is not to be confused with a regular MBA. In fact, the cMBE focuses on both the social and practical aspects of management training. You get to work with a group of three to five colleagues. Together, you work on cases that are actually focused on the organization in which you work. As a result, you immediately put the knowledge you have acquired into practice.
To give you a better idea of what this looks like, below we are going to walk you through a block of our cMBE. The cMBE consists of eight blocks, each of which has its own theme. For example, there is a block on Strategy, a block on Human resource management and a block on Finance. But we will now look at the block on Management and leadership. This is the second block of the cMBE.
Management basics
The Management and leadership block begins with the e-learning module Management basics. In it you learn what skills you need to be an effective manager. Important core concepts come to the fore in this e-learning. For example, what is the difference between a mission, a vision and a strategy? What exactly is an organization and what forms of organization exist? How important is a corporate culture and how is it shaped? In short, this module lays a foundation for the rest of the cMBE program.
Leadership and personality
Next, you will work on the Leadership and personality module. Whereas the previous module was about skills, this one is mainly about character traits of effective leaders. You will also learn that there are different leadership styles so you can determine which style suits you best. At the end of this module, you will also learn more about famous leaders. For example, what can you learn from Steve Jobs or Barack Obama?
The block is not finished yet, because now that we have learned a lot of new theory, we are going to do something practical. You are going to complete the Leadership style scan. In this scan you will pay attention to a large number of statements, indicating to what extent you agree with them. After completing this, you will receive an extensive report on your leadership style, including recommendations. This report is important to read carefully, because you will use it extensively later on!
You cannot change your organization on your own. You do this together. You can if you follow the same cMBE program.

Group meetings in the corporate MBE
Each block concludes with a group meeting. Before this meeting, you follow an Assignment module, which describes how to prepare for the group meeting and what exactly you will be doing. Each meeting has a chairperson, this is a changing role within the group. This way you will learn directly how to lead a meeting, an important skill for managers!
During the Assignment module in the Management and Leadership block, all participants make an analysis of the organization in which they work. This is done using two models that were introduced in the theoretical modules. During the meeting, everyone gives a short presentation of his or her conclusions, followed by a group discussion. Are the results the same for everyone or are there surprising differences? And what does that mean? Furthermore, you will work with the core qualities quadrant. By filling in this quadrant you get a grip on your strengths, your pitfalls and your allergies. By discussing this with the group, you will know what to expect from everyone and where you can help your fellow group members.
Remember the Leadership style scan? This also comes back in the group meeting. Based on this scan, each participant made a personal development plan. We will also discuss these with the whole group, are there points where you can support each other? Do you have tips and feedback for each other?
Obtaining the open badge
In each block, a badge can be obtained by the participant. At the end of the block, which lasts about a month, all participants should have completed all parts with a pass. Then everyone can apply for his or her open badge. The open badge is a modern form of accreditation: a visual, digital and reliable proof of a skill or competency. The badges are universally recognized and can also be added to your LinkedIn profile, for example. After earning the badge, it's time for the next block ... Strategy!
To avoid misunderstandings: accreditation with Open Badges is not comparable to an NVAO accreditation linked to an official Master's degree. With our cMBE program, we offer a management program with its own unique identity.
