5 tips to prevent burnout

Are you easily irritable, have trouble concentrating or have neck and shoulder pain? This could be a sign of stress or even an incipient burnout be. It is important to do something with these complaints. Because mental health means less sickness and more happiness in your work and personal life. That's why we share tips below that everyone should follow!
Tip 1: Schedule more breaks
Burnout doesn't happen because you work too hard. You get it by taking too few moments of rest. Only in those moments can your brain recover from the workload and get back to yourself. So don't focus on reducing your work, but on increasing your breaks!
We're not talking about scheduling a vacation after a busy work period (which is fine, by the way), but about taking small moments of rest throughout your day. For example, take a five-minute break every hour. Be sure to step away from your workstation and leave your phone here as well. Have a cup of tea or a snack and focus all your attention on this. Or do some stretching exercises!
Tip 2: Gain knowledge about burnout
For many, the subject of burnout may be remote. You may know people who have experienced it but don't quite understand how it could have come to this. Therefore, make sure you read up a little better so you know what you can do to prevent it or to help and support others in your (work) environment. You can do this quickly by taking online courses on the subject. You can do this on our online learning platform. Here you will find several relevant trainings.

Tip 3: Always think of yourself first
Recognize it: you don't feel quite right but you go to work that day anyway. Especially with the new work-at-home culture, that choice is more quickly made. Why do you think this is? Do you feel like you matter too much? Do you still have too many tasks open and don't want to disappoint others or yourself?
Remember: this is not the most important thing in the world! Putting yourself first means making choices that are right for you. Take care of yourself before you take care of others. YOU are the most important person in your own life. Practice listening to your heart and body instead of external stimuli. Only then will life become about you!
Tip 4: Take a critical look at your schedule
Do you have tasks that are unlikely to accomplish anything at all anyway? Scrap them! You can easily visualize the urgency of your tasks with Eisenhower's matrix. Plan all your tasks in the following table:

Tip 5: Establish good social relationships
Make sure you gather people around you with whom you feel comfortable. Consider not only friends but also work relationships. It is then important that you get to know each other better. That way you create relationships where you know you can talk to each other about light but also heavier topics such as stress or personal problems. Then the threshold of asking for help when you need it is also lower.
