The Treffer Academy: online training in a real family business
Treffer Uitzendbureau is a family business. Father, mother, brother, sister and an in-law husband all work together with and for their employees. It is often said that a company works with heart, but during the enthusiastic story of Dilara Boellaard-Turpcu, the daughter within the team, the warmth and personal involvement seeps through everything. We sat down with her to talk about how Treffer Uitzendbureau uses SkillsTown's personalized academy for its employees.
Training and development are paramount
Dilara explains what that family business looks like in practice: "We do everything ourselves, from the administration to setting up the Treffer Academy. One learns by doing and so we quickly make everything our own. That is also the advantage of working with your family. You know each other so well that you can let go of things. Although this also applies to our other colleagues! We call them our in-laws."
Dilara is in charge of marketing, where she has taken various courses. "Also in this, I want to do and be able to do everything myself. That's why, for example, I took a course in DTP and photography. For Social Media, I visit the different companies where I talk to the people myself and also take the pictures myself."

A personalized approach
"We often work with companies for long periods of time, which really creates a relationship. Both with the companies and the employees, we always go around the table first. We want to know who someone is, what they are looking for or capable of doing. And that is also what we do at the Treffer Academy. We do not simply offer a combination of courses, but we look at what our employees need. And if necessary, we offer additional support in addition to the Academy, such as our budget coach or personal conversations."
Meanwhile, with the Treffer Academy, Treffer offers a wide range of courses that are personally tailored to employees. "We really look at what people need. We have therefore added many of our own essentials in addition to the existing content, as well as tours of companies. Even with that, I visit myself to take the pictures."
Investing in your people
Treffer recently renewed its contract with SkillsTown. "They offer a nice combination between company-related content and the ability to develop and add training on their own. We work with a broad group of people and SkillsTown has a wide range of training courses that everyone can take in their own way and time. The Academy has really become my project. The contact with SkillsTown is fun and good with that and they have a strong help desk. With this, we offer our people the chance to grow and develop personally. We want to invest in our people."
